Complete Idiots Guide to Total Nutrition by Joy Bauer, M.S, R.D, C.D.N

Don't let the name fool you! This book is chuck full of information for people interested in knowing more information about nutrition. I just recently finished this book (yesterday) and decided I should post a blog about it. There are thousands of books out there about nutrition (trust me I've surfed amazon.com) and its hard to determine which ones are good, bad, and just plain horrible. That's why after every book I read based on nutrition I will write a short review on to help you sort through the mess of information thrown at you.

Anyway back to the book! Bauer does a fantastic job in showcasing the information in a educational and yet humorous way. Let's face the facts, sometimes reading books on nutrition can just be out right boring. I mean we all went to school and were forced to read text books that provided information in a boring and mundane way, but that's not the case here. Bauer does use nutrition jargon, but she also explains the more complicated material in lament terms for the average reader.

The book is split up in 6 parts, Time for a Nutrition Tune-Up, Making Savvy Food Choices, The ABCs of Exercise, Beyond the Basics: Nutrition for Special Needs, Pregnancy and Parenting, and Weight Management 101. Each part is split up into various chapters that detail the underlining meaning to that part. The book is very easy to read as well as entertaining. It is full of diagrams and charts, each explained in detail so that you actually understand what you are looking at.

This is a great introduction book for people of all ages. If you are interested in learning more information about nutrition this book is a great start. Complete Idiots Guide to Total Nutrition will give you the basic foundation of everything you need to know!
